I am single: Sushma Karki

Sushma Karki has new identity these days. Earlier known for a bashful girl image, Karki has presented herself as a bold actress in the film industry. After debuting in the film industry through ‘Mero Euta Saathi Cha’, she has also introduced herself as an item dancer in the film industry. Her item dance ‘Udreko Choli’ in ‘Loot’ was well-received. Karki who keeps on making to the headlines for her love affairs scandals expresses her views with Film Nepal. Excerpts:

How are days going on?
I have just returned from Qatar and Malaysia. Recently, I am busy with ‘Mero Euta Sathi’ and some music videos.

So how do you feel to get new identity as an item-dancer, of late?
Yes, I am seen as an item dancer. Though, I don’t like to be called as a whole-timer item dancer but love item dances.

You are also known as bold actress of the industry.
I have performed bold dances in few films but I don’t feel I am bold. I’d prefer to be called as a bashful actress.

How were you attracted to film industry?
Call it a coincidence. I got into the industry through ‘Mero Euta Saathi Cha’. I was offered the role but I never felt I would continue in the film industry.

How do you define glamour?
I am not glamorous till date but my audience has to wait for around two years to find me glamorous. Also, definition of glamour depends upon one’s perception. One can find glamour even in a sari.

So, Sushma will be more glamorous after two years?
I don’t mean to say that. I might or might not. It solely relies on time’s demand in the future. Nothing can be said now. As I said, I am not glamorous in present but hope time demands me to become more glamorous in future. 

There are rumors you are exploring opportunities in Bollywood?
I had thought about it once, earlier, but the case is different now. We cannot say anything about future. Everyone in the Nepali film industry loves to enter Bollywood and I cannot be an exception.

Producing movies are seen to be only alternative of the actress in the future, what is your take?
I’ve not thought about it. I want to be an actress for next 15-20 years. I am just 21. Rajesh Hamal still rules as an actor why can’t I be actress till his age? So, I will still be an actress for next 20 years. Rest will be decided in the future.

Are you in love?
No, I am not and don’t want to be in relationship.

You seem to be upset?
(Laughs)Why should I be upset? No one can be relied on these days.

There were rumors about your relation with a producer earlier?
It was in a past, not now. You might have heard it in past.
